The culture wars are not over.

Even as the likely presidential candidates in the fall, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, want to speak mostly about the economy, debates over issues such as abortion, faith and gay rights are almost certainly to play a major role in the 2012 campaign, as they do in nearly every election cycle.

GOSPEL LIGHT MINUTE
with Daniel Whyte III

Whitney Houston funeral programAllow me to read the words of a song titled "Tomorrow" written and sung by The Winans. I had not heard this song in a long time until Saturday at Whitney Houston's homegoing service.

THE GOSPEL LIGHT MINUTE X
with Daniel Whyte III

Whitney Houston's body will be laid to rest today, Sunday, February 19, 2012, after a fantastic homegoing service at her home church in New Jersey on Saturday. The church was filled with well-known pastors, singers, musicians, movie directors, actors, and music moguls from different backgrounds and walks of life. They all came not only to celebrate her life, but to celebrate her faith and love for God.

After all the testimonials from relatives and friends, the songs from legends and pop stars, the preaching and even laughter, the raw emotion of Whitney Houston's funeral came down to just one moment: The sound of her own voice.

As the strains of her biggest record, "I Will Always Love You," filled the New Hope Baptist Church at the end of the nearly four-hour service Saturday and her silver-and-gold casket was lifted in the air, the weight of the moment was too much for mother, gospel singer Cissy Houston, to bear.
